Best Climate
Mimosa prefers warm Mediterranean-like climates. It is a sun-loving plant, so make sure to put your plants in a good outdoor spot where it can soak up hours of sunshine and can enjoy that nice natural breeze during the day. Ideal daytime temperatures range between 70-85°F and nighttime temperatures between 60-70°. To prevent stressing your plants, avoid sustained periods below 50°F. Outdoor humidity should be about 40-50% RH. Protect your plants from harsh weather, especially heavy rain and strong winds.
Mimosa can be grown in temperate climates, though you'll need to be strategic by starting your seeds indoors in early spring and have them transplanted outdoors after the last frost when your nights stay consistently above 50°F. Use fabric grow bags or a raised bed for better soil temperature control. You will need to be prepared to harvest by late September/early October, before fall rains and cold set in. While not its absolute ideal environment, with proper timing and some protective measures, you can successfully grow Mimosa in temperate climates and still achieve good results.
Growing Mimosa Strain Indoors
When growing this strain indoors you should keep the temperatures between 70-80°F during light hours and temperatures between 60-70°F during dark hours. During the vegetative stage keep the humidity between 40-60% and then lower it to 40-50% during the flowering stage. This is going to help you prevent issues with mold. You may need to install carbon filters to manage the strong citrus aroma. Be sure you have enough vertical space, as this strain can grow quite tall. Consider flipping your plants to 12/12 once they are about 5-6 weeks old, they should be about 22 inches tall, this will help control the height. If you have some grow experience or you are trying to advance your growing skills, this strain does well with training techniques such as Low Stress Training (LST) and Screen of Green (SCROG). This is going to help manage the height as well as increase yields. When growing more than one plant at a time it is important to space them apart to ensure a good air flow and this ensures each plant is receiving sufficient lighting. Light quality and intensity are primary factors affecting cannabis yields, so remember, the better the lights the better yields.
