Appearance/Size:
Varies in size/color depending on species. Typically red or black, ranging from 1 mm up to 3/4 inch in length.
Prefered Habitat:
Anywhere food is present.
Reproduction:
Reports are uncertain, but studies show some species of ants can lay anywhere from 75-1500 eggs per DAY.
Eat:
Nectar, Honeydew, small insects they can kill, dead insects they find. Some species of ants are known to farm fungus. A queen needs a balanced diet of carbohydrates and protein to produce and feed her larvae.
The Cure:
Setting up bait to attract the ants to an alternative food source is the best way to go about it. Boric Acid. cinnamon, vinegar, peppermint oil, black pepper, cayenne pepper, whole cloves, and bay leaves. sticky traps and other glue traps.
