Aphid-Midge Benefits Plants
Scientific Name: Aphidoletes Aphidmyza, Aphidius colemani, Aphelinus abdominalis, Aphidius ervi Nickname: Aphid Midge, Aphid Wasp, Aphid Parasite 
Appearance/Size: A fully grown adult will range between 1/16 and 1/8 of an inch. Shiny orange eggs are about 1/64 of an inch, which hatch into larvae, and are laid near prey sites. Adults look very similar to mosquito’s.
Prefered Habitat:68º-80ºF with high relative humidity of about 70%. Temperatures below 50ºF will hurt their potential . Adults are not strong flyer’s and will do most of it during the nighttime. 
Reproduction:Laying 100-250, eggs hatching in 3 days. Larvae period is 12-17 days; 15-32 days are spent as pupae.Release 5-10 pupae per square yard. Release weekly or as needed. 
Eat: Food Source: Mainly aphids, and other small plant-dwelling creatures. Larvae can eat aphids much larger than themselves, eating up to 50 per day. Release 5-10 pupae per square yard. Release weekly or as needed.
The Cure: Eliminator Kills over 100 species of insects, plant and soli dwelling that are known to carry viruses, which pose serious problems. |
